Your use of the term "Hit and Miss SEO" is a polite way of saying SPAM and I totally agree with you. The number of spam comments I have had on my blogs (not the one I have linked back to here by the way) has been unbelievable, so now, any spam comment gets its URL added to the Blacklist Box in the Discussions section of my WordPress Settings. I also add in any sex related words and have now developed a long Blacklist. By copying this list into all of my blogs I get maybe 2 or 3 spam comments per week instead of the hundreds I used to get. Automated commenting is the bain of all bloggers and the only way of stopping them is to block them using a good anti spam plugin or to build a Blacklist. (Building a Blacklist is Free - HeHeHe) Just like you I am forever climbing the learning curve of Internet Marketing and one thing I have learned is that Google likes Relevancy. In other words comments should be relevant to the post or article you are commenting about plus, your comment should add something to the conversation. In other words "Make Your Comments Matter!". If other Bloggers are anything like me, comments that are not relevant to the post are not approved and the commenter is therefore wasting his or her time and effort.
